Jockey Launches New Party Plan Business
As seen in Direct Selling News, Volume 1, Number 2, February 2005
Jockey® announced the launch of their direct selling business and began selling a new and differentiated line of products under the name "Jockey Person to Person®."
For 129 years, Jockey has been in the business of "Satisfying the Human Need for Comfort." Entering direct selling will enable Jockey to interact with consumers on a more personal, engaging and fun way.
Jockey Person to Person® will be exclusively sold to the public by independent sales consultants called Comfort Specialists™ through at-home social selling evenings. Jockey has designed an in-home party experience that shares the Jockey story and showcases products in a different way from a standard retail or online environment. This setting allows Jockey to deliver personal attention, foster a community and offer a truly unique experience that spreads comfort.
Jockey Person to Person® clothing is a new line of high-end apparel featuring new technologies, superior fabrics and designs. These products, including bras, underwear, activewear, loungewear and sleepwear, will be exclusive to the direct selling party business.
"We are very excited about the addition of the new channel to Jockey's core business of department store, outlet and online. It does not change our firm commitment to other channels. It simply opens the doors and provides more ways for the consumer to interact with the Jockey® brand," commented Debra S. Waller, Chairman of the Board and CEO, Jockey International, Inc.
Jockey International, Inc. is a privately held company, founded in 1876 by Samuel T. Cooper, a retired minister who wanted to help lumberjacks suffering from blisters and infections caused by shoddy wool socks.
